Sinapi, an Ancient Greek word for mustard, inspired this painting, a reflection of Christ's promise:
"If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there', and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you." (Matt 17:20)
The composition features a textured mountain surface, gilded with gold leaf. Gold representing the eternal and uncreated divine light of God. The deliberate dents and depressions symbolize life's rocky terrain, while the upward movement of the triangular shape of the canvas, the form of a mountain, conveys faith's ascent toward the divine and the transformative power of faith.
